With the encouragement and help of a few of our young supporters, we held the first Myotubular Trust led Hope Walk in Manchester, just a week after our annual flagship walk in London.
Whilst we didn’t benefit from the glorious sunshine we had in London, nothing could dampen the mood as we all gathered on a rather overcast Sunday morning.
Five families made the journey to Manchester to be part of the walk and between them they brought along over 70 walkers. We were joined by parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends and even a cohort of junior doctors who were ‘gently encouraged’ to consider specialising in neuromuscular disease!
After the group photo was taken, we set off towards the canal path and it wasn’t long before Manchester chose to rain upon us. All that managed to do, though, was make us walk a little faster and the catching up, chatting and fun was present from the very first step until the last.
We couldn’t be more grateful to all who joined us – for their company, the great fundraising and support. Likewise, a huge thank you from us to all those who sponsored the fab Manchester Hope Walkers!
If you would like to join us next time, or be inspired to design your own Hope Walk, please see our Hope Walk page – https://myotubulartrust.org/get-involved/hope-walk-weekend/
