Our heartfelt thanks and congratulations go to Emily, Liz, Briony and Kathryn on completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in cold and wet conditions and raising a great amount in sponsorship for their efforts, with just under £400.00 coming to the Myotubular Trust!
The adventurous quartet undertook the gruelling challenge in support of both the Myotubular Trust and Cancer Research on Emily’s birthday weekend earlier this summer.
It seemed very fitting and uplifting to Emily to be supporting two charities very close to her heart. The Myotubular Trust was chosen by her in support of her cousin, Zak, who has x linked myotubular myopathy. Cancer Research was also chosen, as she wanted to do something to support her’s and Zak’s Grannie, who had been battling with cancer.
Emily told us, ‘It took us 11 hours in total. We scrambled over rocks up the first hill, got a new lease of life so ran down the second and then we ached and ‘whinged’ up and down the third!
It was a fantastic feeling to complete all 26 miles but that evening and the next day our feet, knees and legs felt the strain for walking for 26 miles up and down 3 peaks.
Above all, it was great to do something so challenging but positive to support my cousin Zak and my Grannie’.
Well done Ems and friends, from us all at the Myotubular Trust! If you would like to sponsor Emily visit:
