Inspired by her best friend, Harry, Missia raised money for both Myotubular Trust and another charity close to her heart, Women’s Aid.

Missia kindly told us about her fundraising:

“Hello Myotubular Trust family ❤️

My best friend, Harry, unfortunately suffers from centronuclear myopathy, and Harry and his Family have been supported by this absolutely incredible charity since they first discovered each other many many many years ago! (Approximately 15 years ago now if I’m not mistaken)

I have only been lucky enough to have known Harry for around 5 years now.. I met him on Instagram through his amazing older sister Hayley, as I was friends with her for a little while before becoming the best of friends with Harry (we always joke that he stole me from her haha!!!), and since becoming instant best friends with him, and after learning more and more about the challenges that Harry, his family, and what I’m sure many others that suffer with Myotubular Myopathy and also Centronuclear Myopathy have to go through every single day… Which many able-bodied people like me, with no physical or mental disabilities to speak of, can’t relate to. I knew straight away that I wanted to do anything that I could do to help in any way that I could do!! And I tried helping here and there as often as I could do through the past year or 2… But always wanted to help more 💔

That’s when I started my business ‘Crystallised Gifts’ in August 2021, with the help from time to time from my amazinggg best friend Harry, which sell a range of things from Bath Bombs, to personalised crystal boxes, to aromatherapy items, spiritual items, and many more things along those kinds! But just before the lead up to Christmas 2021 began, I ran the idea of doing an end of year fundraiser for Myotubular Trust and an amazing charity called Women’s Aid, which is a charity also very close to my heart, which help women through domestic violence and to get out of, and recover from abusive relationships… And I decided to simply just split the profits 50/50 between the two.. Harry was so moved by this idea, as was him incredible family, and they all thanked me so so so so many times over the Christmas period, which further cemented that I was definitely doing the right thing here by supporting the amazing work that Myotubular Trust do for these amazing families just like Harry’s 🥰

I ended up raising just under £600 total from the fundraiser I did over Christmas, but decided to round it up to a nice round £600 total out of my own pocket, just simply so that it was a nice round number to be given to each! Giving £300 to Women’s Aid, and also £300 to Myotubular Trust (+ the smaller amounts that I’ve given before then), and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to have supported this absolutely incredible charity!! ❤️ I have nothing but huge amounts of love and respect for everybody involved. From the inspirational people like Harry and his family, to people that work tirelessly to try and find a cure for this horrible condition… You should ALL be so so so so unbelievably proud of yourselves for everything you have ALL accomplished so far… However you’re related to Myotubular Trust, whether You yourself or a loved one suffers from Myotubular Myopathy, or Centronuclear Myopathy. Or if you volunteer your time (or resources) to the amazing work that gets done here, or even if you just simply help make all of these amazing breakthroughs happen one way or another by donating (both big and small amounts!!), you should all be so incredibly proud of yourselves for absolutely anything and everything that you do here!! As essentially an outsider looking in, it really really is so incredible to see and hear about the fantastic work that goes on by Myotubular Trust, and the incredibly inspiring people it helps to support ❤️

I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it all must be for you at times, just by knowing even a tiny bit of what it’s like each day just through speaking to Harry for so long practically every single day for around 5 years now 💔 I have nothing but love, positive wishes and respect for all of you🥰 I can’t wait to hopefully donate again in the future!! ❤️

And I am so thankful to the incredibly generous people which all came together and bought something from me last Christmas to help me make this donation a reality 🥰❤️

I hope you all have the absolute best 2022 possible, and I hope that I can donate again in the future🤞🏼😚”

We are incredibly grateful to Missia for her wonderful support and kindness, and to all who supported her fundraising. And thanks of course too to Harry and his family for their unending support and for being so inspirational.
