A huge well done to Jennie May, our longstanding supporter who recently ran the London Marathon in memory of her beautiful little boy, Nathaniel. This was Jennie’s third marathon triumph -a hat-trick!

Jennie told us, “I was fortunate enough to get a ballot place for this year’s London Marathon and I ran in memory of my son, Nathaniel. No matter what distance I am running, if it gets a bit tough in parts then I remind myself how lucky I am to be able to do this as Nathaniel would never have been able to. I definitely needed to remind myself of this ‘luck’ on the day as the miles stretched on!

I am always proud to raise funds for the Myotubular Trust as they gave me a constant stream of support throughout and after Nathaniel’s short life, and ever since then as we have come to terms as a family with the genetic diagnoses of myself and one of my daughters. I am genuinely delighted to hear of all the positive steps forward in the treatment of the condition since Nathaniel died in 2009 and I look forward to a future when we find a cure.”

Not only are we, Myotubular Trust, hugely impressed by Jennie’s achievement, we are also incredibly grateful for her unending support, and that of her family too. And thanks, too, to Jennie’s very generous sponsors – we really appreciate you all.
