It really didn’t matter that it rained on and off, nothing could spoil the good mood of the walkers who had come along for the first Cork Hope Walk.
The 8km walk, which was arranged by Orla Lynch and Stephen Stack, took us along the beautiful Rochestown to Blackrock coastal path. The views were stunning despite the grey sky, and we even got to admire Blackrock Castle where we stopped for the obligatory group photos.
There was a great team of walkers out in support of Orla and Stephen’s son, Rian, and even one of Rian’s nurses who had just done the night shift! We were delighted that Rian led the way and was in poll position from start to finish.
Before we even set off, Orla and Stephen had put together a picnic for all to join them back at their home after the walk. Tea was drunk and sandwiches were eaten!
On the same day, over in Key West, Florida (and with very different weather!), Orla’s sister, Paula, was holding a fundraising event of her own by running a very impressive looking exercise class at Bodyzone Key West, with a raffle thrown in for good measure.
Massive thanks to Orla, Stephen and Paula for arranging such great events – raising €3,000 – and to all who supported them, either by walking, exercising, donating or entering the raffle – we are grateful to you all.
