Dave and Karen, supporters of Myotubular Trust since day one, recently hosted their 17th annual golf tournament, The Jack Blunsdon Golf Tournament, in memory of their precious son, Jack We cannot thank them enough for all that they continue to do!
And we have to give a special mention to Jack’s little sister, Daisy, for baking such wonderful brownies – they are a massive hit on the day of the tournament, and raise a very tidy amount towards research.
Dave told us, “This year we held the 17th Jack Blunsdon Memorial Trophy Golf Day at East Brighton Golf Course, West Sussex on Saturday August 17th.
We had a fantastic turnout yet again with 52 golfers players playing in teams of 4 – each player donated £11 as part of their entrance fee to the charity.
This years event was won by Steve Farrell, Darren Souter, Dean Coombes & Tom Smith and the 3 nearest the pins on the Par 3’s were won by Darren Fuller, Paul Clarke and Dave Bowyer.
Jack’s mum, Karen, and sister, Daisy, were on the buggy supporting the lads and selling refreshments and homemade brownies (Daisy made 6 batches!), and made £250 profit which was well up on previous years.
Finally, I wrote to 10 different golf clubs and asked them if they would be so kind as to donate a fourball voucher which I could auction off afterwards. These are extremely popular and this year helped raise another amazing amount of £1270. All the golf clubs contributed a voucher and many of these clubs have supported us for many years and are much appreciated.
This years prizes & trophies were again kindly sponsored by the company that I work for, Wyeth Projects Services Ltd.
We are incredibly pleased with the amount we raised.”
