Understandably, it’s not very often that our supporters choose to skydive to raise research funds for Myotubular Trust, but that is exactly what Lauran did this summer in memory of her brother, Christopher.
Lauran incorporated the skydive into her holiday in Australia and we really couldn’t be more grateful to her for her fearlessness, her fundraising, and for the stunning video and photos that she has shared with us too. It’s quite something that Lauran smiled her way through the entire build up and jump!
Upon her return home, Lauran told us, ‘Myotubular Myopathy, and Myotubular Trust and the fantastic work they do, have always been part of conversations as I’ve grown up.
Over the years, family and close friends have raised funds for this wonderful charity that is so close to our families hearts. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve understood more the impact this has and witnessed the amazing support they give families in difficult times and realised that I wanted to give back and help others.
When travelling around Australia solo in July 2024, I organised to do a skydive in memory of my late brother Christopher. I raised some more awareness and an outstanding £2153.75, which was triple my initial target.
It was the greatest experience, and honour, of my life and the kindness shared from the Myotubular Trust community and everyone who messaged, donated and shared blew me away, I couldn’t have done it without them and owe them all a special thanks!’
Our congratulations and thanks go to Lauran for completing the skydive and for her wonderful support.
